Putting Patients FirstPutting Patients First

Our Vision: We do not need a complete overhaul of our health sector. We need to support what works and change what doesn't.

We value the quality and innovation of health care in America. We believe that health decisions should be made by individuals and families, not by government officials in Washington who cannot possibly know our individual health and medical needs.

We need to engage the forces of choice and competition to make care and coverage more affordable. And we need fairer subsidies to level the playing field for those who are left behind so they also can obtain insurance.

Three key principles for true health reform:

  1. Subsidies for health insurance should be fair and equitable and should allow health insurance to be portable from job-to-job.
  2. New incentives for more functional, diverse and affordable health insurance markets should be created.
  3. Access to health insurance should be guaranteed, especially for those with pre-existing conditions or high health risks.

In a more functional, patient-centered market, we will be able to get more and better information to help us make our own decisions. We do not want more of our health sector controlled by government. Rather, we want a system that puts patients first, not government bureaucrats and politicians, and that extends freedom, innovation, and quality of care to all.
